Toledo Pro-Am’s Tiffin (Caring & Compassionate) makes dent in the league
Tiffin University players join the Toledo Pro-Am A Caring & Compassionate and has come in looking for all the smoke.
Josh Rivers from Alton, Illinois averaged 12.8 Points last year for Tiffin University has been on fire for Team Caring & Compassionate. Averaging 21.8 points in the Pro-Am, last game against league leading Smackglass whose record is now 4-1 Rivers finished with 39 points and numerous plays for the highlight reel.
The 6’7 Forward not only can fill the highlight reel with dunks and crazy assists but can also drain the three like a pro shooter. Rivers’ contribution to the team has lead them to a 3-2 record, only losing to the 419 HotShots and WTPA, a team filled with Toledo vets that’s being playing together for a while now.
Cassius Key (pictured above) Also played a key roll in the victory this week over Team Smackglass, contributing with 15 points. Ian Lopez with 18 points, and Brandon Swaby with 15 points. The week of July 29th the team faces the Yark Chevy Boyz, which should be a good match up with Yark lead by the sensational Eddie Colbert III and Steve Coleman II.

Summer Pro-Am comes to Toledo
League Director Lee Tabb and Assistant Director Ronnell Isom launches a much needed event for the Summer in Toledo, Ohio. The Toledo Pro-Am whose games are played at Rogers High School in south Toledo. The city hasn’t seen a legit summer pro-am league since the days Jimmy Jackson put one together years ago. This league will focus on players moving from high school to College, from College to play in the Pros here and overseas. The league already features local players such as Chris Darrington, Jaycob Meade and Clemmye Owens of the Glass City Wranglers, and Alontay Gould of the Lebanon Leprechauns.
Jerry Easter II
High school players don’t usually get an invite to Pro-Ams. There was one high school standout that did. Jerry Easter II who played for Emmanuel Christian for 3 years got the call to join the league. He made his debut on the second day of the pro-am with a 40 point game and 35 points the following week. Easter is currently being recruited by some of the biggest college programs in the country and always looking to improve his game. He should be the next big prospect to come out of Toledo. I think that his name being associated with the Toledo Pro-Am gives it some legitimacy.
League Impact
One thing about doing this basketball stuff is you meet some amazing young men! They have so much that can be poured into them. When they have mentors like Ice (Ronnell Isom) , Lee Tabb, Coach Randy Martin, Coach DeDe Jones, Coach Bucc & Nate Hill, there’s no telling how far they can go. The goal of the league isn’t to just win games and to entertain, but also create opportunities, create a community & culture that more kids/ young men & women want to be apart of.
If you’re looking for a safe, fun environment to enjoy some high level basketball, make sure you check out games every Saturday & Sunday this summer until the last week of August. Games will be played at Rogers High School, located at 222 McTigue Dr.
